Ivanka Conrete Mixer

Lovers reveals one of the most honest—and unsettling—faces of love. Two figures surround a concrete mixer: one remains outside while the other is already disappearing into the rotating drum. At first glance, the scene appears violent, almost absurd. Yet beneath its dark irony lies a profound metaphor for intimacy and human connection. The sculpture captures the moment when a relationship transcends the boundaries of individuality. Love is not only tenderness; it is also a continuous process of transformation. Shared experiences, compromises, sacrifices, and mutual devotion gradually reshape both people. Here, the concrete mixer is not an instrument of destruction, but a symbol of metamorphosis—a vessel in which two separate identities are broken down to create a new, shared existence. At the same time, the work raises important questions. How much of ourselves should we sacrifice for love? Where is the line between growing together and losing our own identity? Rather than offering answers, Lovers invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences and interpretations. The expressive mixed-media surface reinforces this emotional tension. Raw industrial forms stand in contrast to the vulnerability of human relationships, creating a dialogue between strength and fragility, construction and dissolution. Lovers ultimately speaks to the paradox at the heart of every profound relationship: that genuine love inevitably transforms us—sometimes painfully, sometimes beautifully, but always irrevocably.
